WHAT IS A FLEA?
Fleas are external parasites that can live on dogs and cats. They are able to feed off of an animal within seconds. They can leave debris (flea dirt) within 6-9 minutes of being on an animal. Fleas are able to infest an entire house and can live in carpets, upholstery, and the pet's bedding. Adult fleas only make up 5% of the population. The other 95% of the population is composed of pupae, larvae, and eggs.
There is a safe and effective preventative for fleas called Frontline. It is applied once monthly topically to the skin in between the shoulder blades. The product is given based on the animal's weight. Frontline is also waterproof for the dogs that like to swim or that get frequent baths.
