What is a Luxating Patella?
A luxating patella is a condition of the knee joint. It is where the patella or "kneecap" is not stable and is able to move around. This usually causes limping for the animal. This can be surgically corrected. The surgery consists of opening up the knee joint and deepening the groove where the kneecap sits. This makes the knee joint more stable. The animal will wear a bandage on that affected leg to help with the healing process. There are post surgical recheck visits that are required.
