There are several types of heartworm preventatives available.
At the Howell Veterinary Care Center we keep in stock the safest and most effective heartworm preventative.
Examples are:
- Heartgard, a meaty chewable chunk given once a month throughout the year. This medication prevents heartworms, hookworms and roundworms.
- Sentinel, a chewable tablet given once a month throughout the year. This medication prevents heartworms, hookworms, roundworms,whipworms and flea infestation.
- Tri-Heart, a chewable tablet given once a month throughout the year. This medication prevents heartworms, hookworms and roundworms.
There are other products available that can be ordered if requested.
- Cats can be infected with heartworm disease and we may recommend placing them on monthly preventative when indicated.
