Heartworm Disease Treatment
Heartworm Disease is the reason why we suggest you have your pet on Heartworm medication year-round.   Treatment for heartworm can be very risky and expensive.

The prognosis for patients with heartworm disease varies, depending on the degree of infection.  During treatment your pet will require strict confinement and monitoring which is done in our hospital with our trained staff.   Your pets hospital stay could be anywhere from 1-2 days to one week or more.
Drug treatments are staggered to kill adult and immature worms.  Supportive therapy is given to decrease inflammation, aid breathing, and decrease the risk of complications.  If your pet survives this disease, your pet will still need to be on preventative to keep this from happening again.

If the worms damage the heart, your pet may need lifelong supportive medication and therapeutic diets.

PLEASE USE HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE YEAR ROUND....DO IT FOR YOUR PET,  AREN'T THEY WORTH IT?
